Multi-functional Two-component Reactive Adhesive

DECHU BONDX is a multi-functional, two-component reactive adhesive designed for installing tiles, natural stones, and other specialized coverings. It is particularly suitable for difficult substrates such as glass, rubber, wood, and metal.

This PU-based, high-performance adhesive provides excellent adhesion and high elasticity, making it suitable for deformable surfaces while offering reliable resistance against vertical slip.

Characteristics

  • Absorbs stresses and accommodates substrate movement

  • Suitable for areas exposed to light chemical attack

  • Good workability

  • High elasticity and excellent flexibility

  • Resistant to ageing

  • Highly thixotropic

  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor applications

Usage Guide

Substrate Preparation

DECHU BONDX adheres to sound, load-bearing, clean, and dry substrates that are free from substances that may impair adhesion.

Substrates must comply with applicable local standards and should be properly cured, structurally sound, dimensionally stable, and free from loose or friable particles. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants such as:

  • Dust

  • Dirt

  • Oil

  • Grease

  • Release agents

  • Cement laitance

  • Efflorescence

Coatings with insufficient load-bearing strength must be removed before application.

DECHU BONDX can be applied without special pretreatment on suitable substrates including:

  • Metal

  • Wood

  • Concrete

  • Plasters

  • Cement screeds

  • Xylolite

  • Fibre-cement boards

  • Chipboards

  • Existing tile surfaces

  • Artificial stone floors

  • Heated screeds

Calcium sulphate screeds (gypsum/anhydrite) should be mechanically roughened and thoroughly cleaned of dust. Residual moisture should be ≤0.5% by weight, or ≤0.3% by weight for heated screeds.

Mastic asphalt should be suitably roughened with sand and should not be used for industrial applications. PVC coverings should be properly prepared before application.

The following substrates may be directly covered with tiles when properly prepared and cured:

  • Cement and mortar plasters — at least 28 days old

  • Cement screeds — at least 28 days old, with residual moisture ≤2% by weight

  • Concrete — at least 2 months old

Cementitious substrates should be sufficiently cured and should not be subject to significant shrinkage after installation. Always comply with applicable local standards and installation requirements.

Depending on the substrate condition and the contaminants present, appropriate preparation methods such as grinding or blast cleaning should be carried out to remove substances that may reduce adhesion.

Any cracks present in the substrate must be identified and appropriately repaired or sealed before application.

Application

Preparing the Mix

DECHU BONDX is supplied in ready-to-mix containers.

Mixing Ratio:

  • Part A (Resin): 96 parts by weight

  • Part B (Hardener): 4 parts by weight

DECHU BONDX is a reactive adhesive that cures through a chemical reaction between two components, Part A and Part B. Thorough and uniform mixing of both components is essential for proper curing and performance.

The ratio of Part A (Resin) to Part B (Hardener) is fixed. Do not modify the specified mixing ratio, as any alteration may result in improper curing and affect the final performance of the adhesive.

Applying the Mix

DECHU BONDX is a two-component reactive adhesive. Mix Part A and Part B in the specified 96:4 ratio by weight before use.

  1. Pour Part B (Hardener) into Part A (Resin).

  2. Mix thoroughly until a completely uniform paste is obtained.

  3. Use a low-speed electric mixer to ensure proper mixing and minimize heat generation.

  4. Avoid high-speed mixing, as excessive heat can significantly accelerate the curing process and reduce the available working time.

  5. Apply the adhesive according to generally recognized thin-bed installation methods using a suitable notched trowel. Alternatively, the buttering-floating method may be used.

  6. Ensure that the adhesive layer has sufficient thickness to achieve void-free bedding of tiles and slabs.

  7. Press the tile firmly into the freshly applied adhesive so that at least 60% of the tile surface is covered with adhesive.

  8. Tiling must be carried out while the adhesive is fresh. Apply adequate pressure to achieve complete and uniform contact between the tile and adhesive for optimum bonding.

  9. Tiles and stones must be completely dry before installation.

  10. For exterior installations, the backs of tiles should be completely covered with adhesive to achieve appropriate coverage and bonding.
